Visiting South Korea has been an enlightening case of cross-cultural integration, working on Delta-Korean Air joint venture planning. And entertaining, as our Korean colleagues enjoy a long dinner party as much as I do. As Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian says, “It’s only foreign if it’s unfamiliar!”
A trip to Korea isn’t complete without a trip to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Through a lens of adventure, my grandfather enthusiastically reflects on his experience as a young Marine. It’s surreal to see his story’s setting, especially now, during peace talks between U.S. President Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.

Seoul is a fantastically clean, relatively quiet city with do-it-yourself barbecue grills built into communal dining tables. Locals are friendly and pleased to share their perspective on culture, history and current affairs. My kind of place!
